About Our CSA Program

A CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) is a program that allows customers to purchase a subscription to the farm. Customers sign up and purchase a share at the beginning of the season. They will then receive a box of produce for 20 weeks during the harvest season. This program is beneficial to both the farmer and customer.

Customers' dollars go further in a CSA because they typically get more than they would just purchasing from a market or farm stand. The CSA being paid for upfront benefits the farmer because it provides some cash flow in the spring, when they incur most of their costs for the coming season and have the lowest income. The CSA model also allows for the risk of farming to be shared with the customer.

Customers share in the loss if a crop does not do well. However, they also share in the reward of a bumper crop. This program benefits both the customer and the farmer.

It also allows the customer to really know where their food is coming from.

Available Shares

We offer 4 different shares at Peterson Farm. They are listed below:

  1. Full Share ($860 total; $43 per week): Our largest share size! Designed for veggie-loving families of 5+ people. Ideal for those who cook and eat in repeatedly throughout the week and/or for folks that want to freeze some of the season's bounty for winter use. It’s also the perfect size to share with another family.
  2. Half Share ($580 total; $29 per week): Great for up to 5 people, and can be shared between 2 small families. Also suitable for a single person or couple who like fresh produce and might want to preserve some for the winter.
  3. Personal Share ($420; $21 per week): Our smallest veggie share, perfect for individuals or couples. Ideal for those who love fresh produce and cook for just themselves or one other person.
  4. Fruit Share ($200; approximately $16 per week depending on the length of fruit seasons): Receive fresh fruit when in season. Includes strawberries, peaches, and apples, with the season lengths varying year to year.

Delivery and Pickup

  • Delivery: ($150; $7.50 per week) Available within 7 miles of the farm for those who might find it difficult to pick up their CSA share each week. Deliveries are on Wednesday afternoons.
  • Pickup: CSA shares can be picked up weekly on Wednesdays at Peterson Farm and on Saturdays from 10 AM to 1 PM at Montgomery Farmers Market in Skillman, NJ.
